Horses in Training and Racing for the 2026 Season
This page is dedicated to the horses in the Hyngstrom Racing stable that were in training for the 2026 racing season. It was a difficult year for us. Two of our yearlings, Unhynged Revenge and Unhynged Grit, did not make the cut and never reached the races.
Yearlings to Race as Two Year Olds in 2026
Our third yearling, Unhynged Adieu, did make it to the races, and she made the most of it. She broke her maiden in her very first start, on July 2 at Springfield (see the race report). Her form faded after that, and she has been turned out for a rest and some growth to get her ready for the 2027 season.
Two Year Olds Turning Three for 2026 Racing Season
We had two returning three-year-olds. Given the declining state of the business in Illinois, we decided to sell Unhynged Illini. We chose to keep our homebred filly trotter Unhynged Cadeau, by Southwind Chrome out of Shadow Copy.
Cadeau started the year well, with strong showings at Oak Grove and a win at Hoosier Park in the Chad E. Carlton Trotting Series consolation. Returning to Oak Grove for the Kentucky Trotting Oaks, she developed an abscess in her left rear foot that burst during the elimination race. She was still eligible for the high consolation, but the abscess blew out again in that race and cost her a better placing. Back in Illinois and at Hoosier Park, she developed a second abscess, in her left front foot, and it hampered her severely all summer.
In late September Cadeau began to turn the corner. She finished second at Springfield on September 26, and on October 8 she trotted a career-best 1:53.0 for third at The Red Mile against a tough field. Through that race she has made 11 starts in 2026 with a win, three seconds and three thirds, for $26,370 in earnings. We will see how the rest of the year plays out.
